The actor who was supposed to be present for the court hearing (illegal arms case) in Jodhpur on April 23 but did not attend the same, citing health issues.

However he was summoned to the court today, for which the star cancelled his Bajrangi Bhaijaan shoot in Kashmir.

Interestingly, onlookers told SpotboyE.com, that the actors security staff was wanting to be present inside the courtroom for Salmans hearing but only his bodyguard Shera and sister Alvira was allowed and  the rest had to wait outside.

When the judge asked him about his caste, he said: “I am an Indian.” However the judge replied saying that everyone in the country is an Indian and insisted for a reply. On this, the actor responded:  My mother is a Hindu and my father is a Muslim, hence I am an Indian".

Salman and a few other Bollywood stars were accused of poaching blackbucks on the midnight of October 1-2, 1998 during the shooting of Sooraj Barjatya's Hum Saath Saath Hain. Two blackbucks, a protected animal under the Wildlife Protection Act, were killed on the outskirts of Kankani village near Jodhpur. Salman was accused of carrying and using illegal arms. He is also alleged to have been carrying arms with expired licence. A police complaint was filed against him on charges of being involved in hunting the protected blackbuck.

When asked about the charges against him, Salman shot back: "I have been falsely implicated. The black buck killing charges on me are completely false. The police officers and the forest department officials have wrongly accused me in this case. The arms were brought in under the instructions of the forest department officials.
Salman requested the court to give him some more time to prepare for his defense.

The next hearing is scheduled for May 4.
